Referrals & Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP)

A referral and MHCP are not required to book an appointment at our practice.

However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need to obtain a referral and MHCP from your GP or specialist.

Medicare

We provide psychological services under the Australian Government’s Better Access initiative. If you are eligible for a MHCP from your GP or specialist, you may receive Medicare rebates for both in-person and telehealth sessions, which we can usually process at your appointment.

Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 sessions per year under a MHCP, up to 40 under an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan, and up to 5 under a Chronic Disease Management Plan.

A referral is optional but can help reduce costs. Please feel free to discuss this with us during your initial session.

Private Health Insurance

You may be able to claim rebates for psychology services depending on your level of cover. Please contact your private health insurer to confirm.

Please note that private health insurance cannot also be claimed for a session, if you claimed a Medicare rebate for the session.
